“Share UR Research II” video yarışması ODTÜ BiG (Bilim İletişimi Grubu) ve GİSAM (Görsel İşitsel Sistemler Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi) tarafından gerçekleştirilmektedir.
The METU SCT (Science Communication Team) and GİSAM (Audiovisual Systems Research and Production Center) have organized a video competition called, “Share UR Research II”.
Yarışmanın Amacı:
Bilimin toplumla buluşturulmasını amaçlayan bilim iletişimi çalışmalarının önemli bir ayağı da araştırmacının, araştırmasını her seviyeden kitlenin anlayabileceği seviyede sunabilme becerisine sahip olmasıdır. Bu amaçla ODTÜ Bilim iletişimi çalışmalarına farklı boyut getirerek yüksek lisans ve doktora öğrencileri ile doktora sonrası araştırmacıların kendi özgün bilimsel araştırmalarını video film aracılığıyla tanıtmalarını teşvik etmeyi amaçlayan bir yarışma düzenlemektedir. Yarışma tüm bilim alanlarına açıktır.
Purpose of the Competition:
An important element of science communication activities aiming to connect science and society is the ability of researchers to present their research in language that is accessible to audiences of all backgrounds. Towards this end, the METU Science Communication Team is organizing a competition that aims to encourage graduate and doctoral students as well as post-doctoral researchers to introduce their original scientific research via video. The competition is open to all disciplines.
Katılım Koşulları:
- “Share UR Research II” video yarışması, tüm yüksek lisans ve doktora öğrencileri ile doktora sonrası araştırmacıların katılımına açıktır.
- Katılımcılar bireysel ya da ekip olarak yarışmaya katılabilirler.
- Eserler jenerikle birlikte en az 1 en fazla 3 dakika uzunluğunda olmalıdır.
- Gösterim kopyaları en az 1920×1080 çözünürlüğünde olmalıdır.
- Eserlerin dili Türkçe veya İngilizce olacaktır.
- Videolarda stok görüntü kullanılabilir. Stok görüntü temini için ODTÜ GİSAM’dan destek alınabilecektir. storyblocks.com sitesinden seçtiğiniz fotoğraf ve video desteği için gisam@metu.edu.tr adresine başvurabilirsiniz.
- Yarışmaya katılan eserlere herhangi bir katılım veya gösterim ücreti ödenmez.
- Yarışmaya gönderilecek eserlerdeki özgün olmayan araştırma, metin, müzik, vb. kullanımlarından doğacak her türlü telif hakkı, yarışmacının sorumluluğundadır. Aynı şekilde videolarda yer alan tüm kişilerden gerekli izinlerin alınması da yarışmacının sorumluluğundadır. Gerekli haklara ya da izinlere sahip olunmadığının ortaya çıkması halinde, ilgili eser yarışmadan men edilir. Tespit yarışmadan sonra yapılır ise, eser sahibi ödüllendirilmiş olsa dahi ödülü geri alınır.
- Bir kişi yarışmaya en fazla iki eserle katılabilir.
- Katılımcılar doldurdukları başvuru formunu ve videolarını 2 Temmuz 2022 Cumartesi günü 23.59’a kadar big.metu.edu.tr adresine yükler.

Atölye katılımı için gisam@metu.edu.tr başvurabilirsiniz.
Terms of Participation:
- The video competition “Share UR Research II” is open to the participation of all graduate and doctoral students and post-doctoral researchers.
- Participants can take part in the competition individually or as a team.
- The videos submitted should be between 1 and 3 minutes long including the credits.
- Release prints must be at least 1920×1080 resolution.
- The language used in the videos will be Turkish or English.
- Stock footage can be used in the videos. If you need support with stock footage, please write to gisam@metu.edu.tr for the photos and videos of your choice on storyblocks.com.
- No participation or screening fee is paid for work submitted to the competition.
- Any copyright violations arising from the use of non-original research, text, music, etc. in the videos to be submitted to the competition are under the responsibility of the competitor. Likewise, it is the competitor’s responsibility to obtain the consent and any necessary permissions of all of the individuals appearing in the videos. If it is revealed that such consent, rights or permissions have not been obtained, the work in question will be disqualified. If the violation is noticed after the competition, the award will be revoked even if the author has been awarded.
- A participant may not submit more than two works.
- The deadline to upload completed application forms and videos on big.metu.edu.tr is Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 23.59.

- The participants committing to participate in the competition can also attend the workshop, “How do you visualize your research?” to be organized by GİSAM depending on the number of applications. To apply to join the workshop, you can submit your application to gisam@metu.edu.tr.

Başvuru:
Yarışmaya katılabilmek için eserin sahibi/sahipleri başvuruda bulunur. Eserin birden fazla sahibi varsa, başvuru formunda diğer sahiplerinin isimlerinin de yer alması gerekmektedir.
Yarışmaya en fazla iki eserle başvurulabilir.
Yarışma başvuruları big.metu.edu.tr adresindeki form ile 2 Temmuz 2022 Cumartesi günü saat 23:59’a gönderilebilecektir. Başvuru formunda aşağıdaki bilgilerin doldurulması gerekmektedir.
- Eserin youtube.com sitesine ‘liste dışı (unlisted)’ olarak yüklenmiş bağlantı adresi
- Eserin künyesi (eser sahibi, film ekibi, süresi, vb.)
- Eser hakkında Türkçe veya İngilizce kısa bilgi
- Eserden 3 adet fotoğraf (yüksek çözünürlükte)
- Yönetmeninin biyografisi
- Danışman öğretim üyesinden alınmış izin belgesi
- Onay formu.
Not: Ön elemeyi geçen eserlerin yönetmenlerinden yüksek çözünürlükte, bir (1) adet yönetmen fotoğrafı ve üç (3) adet eserden fotoğraf istenecektir.
Application:
To participate in the competition, the creator(s) of the work must apply personally. If the work has more than one creator, the name(s) of the other creator(s) must be included in the application form.
No more than two submissions can be made per person for the competition.
Competition applications must be sent via the interactive form at big.metu.edu.tr until 23:59 on Saturday, July 2, 2022. The following information must be provided in the application form.
- The link of the video uploaded to youtube.com as ‘unlisted’
- Information regarding the video (creator, film crew, running time, etc.)
- Brief information about the work in Turkish or English
- 3 photos of the work (in high resolution)
- Biography of the director
- Permission paper from the advisor
- The consent form.
Note: The directors of the videos that pass the initial screening will be requested to provide one (1) photo of the director and three (3) photos of the work in high resolution.
Değerlendirme Koşulları:
- Yarışmaya katılan videolar Düzenleme Kurulu tarafından tematik, biçimsel ve yarışma koşullarına uygunluk açısından değerlendirilecektir. Yarışma koşullarına uygun bulunan videoların nihai değerlendirmesi ise Seçici Kurul tarafından yapılacaktır. Seçici Kurul big.metu.edu.tr sayfasında ilan edilecektir.
- Araştırmanın niteliği değil, video yapım aşağıdaki kriterler doğrultusunda değerlendirilecektir:
- Kurgu ve Anlatım (Anlatımın anlaşılırlığı ve sadeliği, anlatımı akıcı ve ilgi çekici kılan yaratıcı öğeler)
- Görsel ve işitsel nitelik
Evaluation Conditions:
- Submitted videos will be screened by the Organizing Committee based on thematic and formal aspects as well as compliance with the competition conditions. The final evaluation of the videos deemed compatible with the competition conditions will be made by the Jury. The Jury will be announced on big.metu.edu.tr.
- The submissions will not be evaluated based on the nature of the research, but on the video making The following are the evaluation criteria:
- Editing and Narration (Clarity and simplicity of expression, creative elements that make the narration fluent and interesting)
- Visual and audio quality
Ödül:
Birincilik ödülü 10.000 TL, İzleyici ödülü 5.000 TL’dir.
Prize:
The first prize is 10,000 TL, People’s Choice Award is 5,000 TL.
Diğer Koşullar:
- Ödül kazanan eserlerin yayın hakları ODTÜ’ye aittir. Bu eserler ODTÜ’nün tanıtım programlarında, sosyal medya hesaplarında, fuarlarda ve TV kanallarında kullanılabilir. Bu kullanımlar nedeniyle telif hakkı ödenmez.
- Eser, ekip halinde üretildi ise başvuru formunda ekip lideri/sözcüsünün iletişim bilgilerine yer verilecektir.
- Ön değerlendirmeyi geçen videolar Eylül 2022’de ilan edilecektir. Ekim 2022’de tüm başvuru sahiplerinin katılımına açık ödül töreni düzenlenecektir. Dereceye giren videolar ödül töreninde açıklanacaktır.
- Birincilik ödülünü ekip olarak katılan katılımcılardan birinin kazanması halinde, hangi ekip üyesinin ödülü alacağını ekip belirleyecek ve ıslak imzalı muvaffakatname ile Düzenleme Kurulu’na bildirecektir.
- Ön değerlendirmeyi geçen filmlerden en çok izleyici oyu alana İzleyici Ödülü verilecektir. İzleyici Ödülü, 5.000TL’dir.
- Ön değerlendirmeyi geçen tüm katılımcılara katılım belgesi verilecektir
- Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi gerektiğinde katılım koşullarını değiştirip güncelleme hakkına sahiptir. Katılım koşullarındaki değişiklik ve güncellemeleri takip etmek katılımcının sorumluluğundadır. Ödüller yarışma jürisinin takdirinde olup, katılımın az olması gibi durumlarda değişiklik yapılabilir.
Other Conditions:
- The publication rights of the awarded videos will belong to METU. These works can be used for promotional purposes by METU via social media accounts, fairs and TV channels. No copyright is paid for these uses.
- If a video was created as a team, the contact information of the team leader/representative will be included to the application form.
- Videos that pass the initial screening phase will be announced in September 2022. An award ceremony open to the participation of all applicants will be held in October 2022. The highest ranking videos will be announced at the award ceremony.
- If the first prize is won by a team, the team must determine a single team member to receive the support and will submit their signed consent to the Organizing Committee.
- The film that receives the greatest number of viewer votes among the films that have passed the initial screening will receive the People’s Choice Award. This award is 5,000 TL.
- All participants passing the initial screening will be given a certificate of participation.
- Middle East Technical University reserves the right to change and update the terms of participation when necessary. It is the participants’ responsibility to follow the changes and updates related to participation. Awards are at the discretion of the competition jury, and changes may be made in cases such as insufficient participants.
